Capitol National Bank located in Lansing, Michigan is currently filling the position of Commercial Loan Officer. The ideal candidate will manage large and/or complex loan accounts ensuring adherence to Bank Credit Policy and ongoing profitability for the Bank. This position solicits and develops all types of business activity, specializing in larger loan relationships.
- Develops new business relationships and commercial lending opportunities for the Bank.
- Identifies and meets with prospective customers, business professionals, and business consultants to generate leads.
- Interviews loan applicants, collects and analyzes information which reflects the current credit worthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Information may be obtained in a variety of methods, including inspection of the applicant’s business and/or collateral, review of financial reports, and personal interviews.
- Obtains and reviews financial information to have loan renewals prepared, approved and closed with customer in a timely manner.
- Ensures financial reporting compliance with banking policies and regulatory agencies.
- Monitors loan/deposit performance for potential signs of financial deterioration.
- Manages risk related loans to have renewals completed, payments made on time, and ensure memos and financial information is in the loan file for review and completion.
- Monitors loan repayment activities and contacts customers regarding late payments and insurance delinquencies
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively throughout the Bank and represent the Bank positively to the public and acquire working relationships with current and potential loan accounts.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and evaluate areas of responsibility including determination of loan risk involved and recommendation of credit limitations.
- Thorough understanding of financial data such as cash flow, balance sheet and collateral dynamics of customers’ properties and geographic area.
- Ability to persuade and negotiate with others through the development and delivery of presentations.
- Participates in community activities to expand network and Bank’s brand with the intent of creating additional referrals.
Qualifications/Skills:
- This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires a minimum of three to five years of related experience in lending.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively throughout the Bank and represent the Bank positively to the public and acquire working relationships with current and potential loan accounts.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and evaluate areas of responsibility including determination of loan risk involved and recommendation of credit limitations.
- Thorough understanding of financial data such as cash flow, balance sheet and collateral dynamics of customers’ properties and geographic area.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
