Law Clerk (Intern)
Develop your skills with a dynamic team of legal professionals at TDI. With $243.1 billion in premiums in 2022, Texas is the nation's second largest insurance market and the seventh largest in the world. The General Counsel Division of TDI is hiring a law clerk to support TDI in areas such as health market regulation, homeowners and auto policies, insurance rates, and general counsel practice areas such as employment, contracts, administrative law, and open records. You will be at the forefront of insurance regulation and have the chance to shape policies and regulations that impact the daily lives of Texans.
This full-time, paid position provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the various types of legal careers within TDI, including administrative rule making, preparing legal memoranda, and legal research and writing. Through this position, you will build your professional and communications skills and receive hands-on experience in a variety of practice areas. This temporary, full-time position is in Austin and requires 40 hours a week, with two days per week of in-office attendance at the Barbara Jordan Building required. This temporary position will begin around June 2, 2025 and end on or before August 16, 2025.
The General Counsel Division provides training and a positive, collaborative work culture. An ideal candidate will have excellent legal research and writing skills, the ability to interpret state and federal laws and apply them to novel legal problems, and the ability to draft thorough and plain language legal documents. The candidate will be detail-oriented and an excellent communicator, with good collaboration skills and judgment in the analysis of legal risks. The ideal candidate will show a willingness and ability to take on new challenges and subject matter.
