Job Description
TPWD MISSION
To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work and repairs to facilities, equipment, and grounds for Guadalupe River State Park. Supports the execution of the park safety program as the Site Safety Officer (SSO). Operates all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, trailers, mowers, and power tools. Distributes herbicides / pesticides in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations. Performs natural and cultural management tasks to include trail work, historic building preservation, and invasive species control via herbicide and manual removal. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience :
Three years facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a First Aid and CPR certification.
NOTE : Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required licenses and certification.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :
Experience :
Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience working with the public.
Licensure :
Current CPR certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
