What are the responsibilities and job description for the TPWD - Park/Historic Site Superintendent I position at CAPPS?
Job Summary:
To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preservation, protection, operation, and maintenance of Fort Leaton State Historic Site
- Managing the Western Portal of Big Bend Ranch State Park and Chinati Mountains State Natural Area
- Financial management, including budget planning, preparation, and monitoring
- Maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment
- Community and neighbor outreach
- Participation in search and rescue and critical incident operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field
- Knowledge of all phases of park/historic site administration operations
- Knowledge of accounting/accountability of revenue collection
- Skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to provide direction, guidance, and oversight of all park/historic site programming, administration, and operations
- Ability to effectively manage financial systems, accountability of budgets, purchasing processes, inventories, and agency property
- Ability to perform duties safely in remote wilderness settings and inclement weather conditions
Working Conditions:
- Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
- Required to live on-site with a monthly deduction
- Required to travel 25% with possible overnight stays
- Required to perform work outdoors occasionally in adverse weather conditions
