What does a day in the life of a Capra's Utilities, Inc. employee look like?
We will start at our shop in White Bear Lake at 6:00am, have a morning meeting to go over the jobs for the day, load up the trucks and drive a company vehicle to the job site. You will work with our team of highly skilled laborers and operators to install and repair underground utilities such as water lines, sewer lines, fire hydrants and septic systems.
Major responsibilities for a Laborer/Heavy Equipment Operator I, II and III include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the repair and installation of sewer and water lines and septic systems
- Loading trucks for the day to day operations
- Flagging for traffic
- Driving company trucks and equipment from our White Bear shop to the job sites daily
- Load and unload backhoe and skid loader from trailers and light to major heavy equipment operation, depending on your ability or experience
- Equipment and truck maintenance such as checking fluids, washing and greasing
- Operate power tools such as jack hammers, compactors, core drills, concrete saw and other tools, as needed
- Shoveling and raking to restore excavated areas
- Operate a vac trailer to locate underground utilities and for water main breaks
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role (preferred)
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Paid Training: On-the-job training for daily work. Pay will increase once you learn on the job and additional increases when you obtain your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and attend and pass a septic installers course to be paid for by the company. Additional continuing education classes will be paid for by the company.
