Caprock Academy is seeking a High School Volleyball Head Coach for the 2025-2026 school year.. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.
Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades K–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. The Head Coach shall report to and is accountable to the Director of Athletics and Activities, and the Head of School. The Head Coach will instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student athlete shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The Head Coach will assist Caprock Academy to achieve its Mission of academic and personal leadership within its student body and faculty. S/he will support students in the areas of academic, emotional, and behavioral development.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, non-exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, casual
HOURS WORKED: 15-20 per week during the sport season
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement procedures for ensuring open communication with parents and athletes.
- Establish direction and expectations for all program participants.
- Establish supervision responsibilities for practice, games, team trips, and locker rooms.
- Develop and implement individual/team training plans by the day, week, month, and year as appropriate.
- Monitor athlete attendance/behavior/academic status.
- Be responsible for, understand, adhere to, enforce, and implement district, school, and athletic policies along with CHSAA By-Laws.
- Ability to use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
- Understand the signs and symptoms of concussions and remove players that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussions.
- Develop and implement a sport specific emergency response plan.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous successful teaching, coaching and/or sport participation experience preferred.
- Ability to organize and develop a high school girls volleyball program.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of volleyball and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures.
- Possess or have the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
- Successfully pass the CHSAA Coaches Test, acquire CHSAA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
- CPR & AED Certification required
