- The majority of the work performed is done in an office environment. However, some work is performed in operational areas of the mine.
- Conduct themselves in a way that demonstrates support of Capstone Copper’s Values: Safety, Accountability, Excellence, and Caring in all efforts and interactions while working in compliance with all MSHA safety guidelines and Pinto Valley Mine policies and procedures.
- Attain all necessary certifications or skills to execute the tasks / jobs assigned.
- Oversee and manage all security operations on their shift, ensuring the security and safety of personnel, assets, and property by monitoring access control, conducting patrols, investigating incidents, responding to emergencies, and enforcing security protocols to prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, and other security threats within the mine area.
- Assist in internal investigations and performance reviews as necessary.
- Lead any special projects and investigations on shift as required including, but not limited to, Theft Investigations, Lunchbox, toolbox, and bag checks, D&A sweeps, and assist site leadership in removing employees from property
- Ensure all contractors, employees, visitors, and vendors are greeted and logged at entrance gate and ensure they meet the appropriate, and current, requirements to be on PV property.
- Notify appropriate site contacts of arrival of visitors or vendors and direct or escort visitors and vendors to their destination if necessary. Provide visitors and contractors with site specific training as needed.
- Monitor site radio system, phones, emails, and other communications as necessary and maintain professional and courteous manner in all communications.
- Review and address adequacy of daily, weekly, and monthly shift reports as required.
- Collect and review for adequacy, or write and submit incident reports for each incident and ensure appropriate logs are maintained for all incidents, emergencies, communications, and other activities.
- Ensure alignment and positive communications of expectations across all shifts and between shift leads.
- Maintain the requirements for, operate, and monitor the site access card system; create profiles; assign access; disable cards; produce cards when required; and maintain temporary card logbook.
- Plan and oversee random inspections of vehicles, property, and areas to identify unauthorized items or circumstances.
- Ensure all vehicles entering PV property meet site-specific requirements before being allowed entry to property, and that vehicles are in acceptable condition.
- Ensure thorough inspections are completed of all equipment prior to its use on site to ensure it is MSHA and policy/procedure compliant.
- Plan and ensure that security rounds of the site infrastructure and surrounding property are completed as needed to observe the condition of equipment and facilities and report that any abnormal conditions are logged and escalated.
- Oversee, train, and perform audits of D.O.T., and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing records and procedures to ensure strict compliance and correct standards are maintained.
- Ensure security support as the primary dispatch for on-site emergencies and assist the mine rescue and safety teams to direct traffic, dispatch and direct additional support, and support site resources in mitigation and recovery efforts.
- Completed and will maintain 40-hour First Responder training and have the ability to respond to emergencies and administer first aid treatment to ill and injured employees, contractors, and visitors as required.
- Complete other safety or emergency response skills trainings as necessary to support the Safety, Health, and Mine Rescue teams in emergency preparedness.
- Maintain productive working relationships with HSE team and Pinto Valley Leadership team members.

- 1-2 years of security experience, or demonstrated ability to perform all position responsibilities

- 40-Hour First Responder (at a minimum)

- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Solid understanding of basic office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Must have completed Drug and Alcohol Technician Training and DOT HazMat training and be capable of coaching others
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to coach and motivate others to perform work safely and in adherence to PVM’s security standards and safety management system
