Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with expertise in cybersecurity to join our team within the nuclear industry. This role demands a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, nuclear safety protocols, and advanced cybersecurity measures. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing secure electrical systems, implementing robust cybersecurity defenses, and ensuring compliance with stringent industry regulations to protect critical nuclear infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Implementation: Develop and design electrical systems for nuclear facilities with integrated cybersecurity measures to safeguard against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Security Assessments: Perform risk assessments and vulnerability analyses specific to nuclear electrical systems and control networks.
- Incident Response: Lead the response to cybersecurity incidents affecting nuclear infrastructure, coordinating with internal teams and regulatory bodies.
- Compliance: Ensure electrical systems meet cybersecurity requirements of industry regulations and standards, including NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) guidelines and NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection) standards.
- Security Plans:
- Familiar with nuclear plant security, both physical and cyber, and experienced in implementing security plans per the latest 10CFR73.55 matrix.
- Create and revise Physical Security Plans in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Review and update Safeguard Contingency Plans for NRC approval.
- Review Training and Qualification Plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with nuclear safety teams, IT departments, and cybersecurity experts to integrate security solutions into electrical systems and address potential vulnerabilities.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on system designs, security protocols, incident response procedures, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Research & Development: Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and technological advancements to continuously enhance the security of nuclear electrical systems.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications related to nuclear safety or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on cybersecurity within the nuclear industry or a related highly regulated sector.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in designing and analyzing electrical systems specific to nuclear facilities.

- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to address and resolve complex security issues in a high-stakes environment.
- Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security ) and nuclear industry-specific credentials are a plus.
