About the Role :
The Wealth Advisor role in the firm is typically filled by high potential members of the client service team who possess core technical, client relationship, and interpersonal skills that form the basis for the progression to the Senior Wealth Advisor role. The Wealth Advisor plays a “dual role” during their development as they provide professional support to Senior Wealth Advisors’ clients, while concurrently developing and growing their own practice. Wealth Advisors also actively seek to obtain new clients by developing their strategic relationships and community networks .
The Wealth Advisor with a Family Office Specialty builds on this role with a specific focus on family office clients. It expands the firm’s service model, incorporating a deeper and broader scope of advice and service-related activity. The focus of this role is to provide technical, operational, and relationship management support to a select group of the firm’s largest and most complex clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Advisory
- Assist in helping families to formalize and achieve financial objectives
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports and documentation across all planning areas
- Help to analyze financial and wealth management models across all planning areas
- Support the implementation of recommendations across all planning areas
Tax Compliance and Planning
Assist in the preparation and review of individual, trust and business entity tax returnsHelp monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure families remain in proper complianceSupport tax planning strategies from both an income and estate tax perspectiveInterface with tax preparers and external service providers for tax-related mattersInvestment Management
Oversee overall portfolio construction in a manner consistent with firm and family investment philosophyMonitor asset allocation and asset placement across various family investment and estate planning vehicles to ensure adherence to overall model targetsSupport selection and implementation of investment strategies across various asset classes (stocks, bonds, real assets, etc.), including both public market and private market holdings, as determined in coordination with the firm’s CIOConduct due diligence on public market and private market family-sourced investment opportunities in coordination with the firm’s CIOLegal, Estate and Compliance Analysis
Review and analyze legal agreements related to trusts and business entities, business operations, investments, and other financial-related legal mattersWork with outside legal counsel to assist in preparing and managing documents related to wealth transfer strategies, including estate and gift planningSupport the execution of wealth transfer plans and communications with heirs and other beneficiariesAssist in ensuring compliance with business and entity registrations and regulatory reporting requirementsRisk Management and Insurance
Analyze exposure across various assets (real estate, personal property, business holdings, etc.)Coordinate with outside professionals to ensure appropriate property insurance coverage for homes, vehicles, yachts, aircraft, and other high-value items; proper liability insurance for personal and professional liability risks, and proper business insurance for family-owned businessesCash Flow and Liquidity Management
Ensure adequate liquidity reserves for the families’ day-to-day needs, planned and unplanned lifestyle expenses, and periodic capital investmentsClosely monitor and plan for cash flow needs for specific bill payment managed by the firm on behalf of the families, household-related expenses, and other operational expensesWork with administrative and operational support team members to manage bookkeeping tasks and ensure timely and accurate processing of paymentsFamily Governance and Succession Planning
Help organize and document family meetings and discussionsAssist in strategy discussions related to management and control of family-owned businessesSupport the implementation of philanthropic goals through foundations and donor-advised fundsAssist with analysis and discussions regarding succession planningAct as a conduit for family stewardship objectives to be passed between generationsMentor, educate and build relationships with second-generation family membersWork directly with second-generation family members on their separate planning needsAdministrative Responsibilities
Coordinate and maintain accurate financial records and documentationPrepare net worth statements, tax projections and other financial reporting for analysis and distribution to family members and outside service partnersAssist with operational improvements to the service model and ongoing new business development strategiesRequired Skills and Abilities
Experience in a financial advisory role, preferably in an ultra-high net worth or family office environmentMust be technically proficient, critically-thinking, relationship-oriented, advocacy-minded, passionate about the service model and have excellent organizational and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with advisory and operational team, senior management, and external professionalsEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting suggestedJD and / or CPA preferred; CFP a plusBenefits
