Speech-Language Pathologist Job Overview : Embark on a 13-week Speech-Language Pathologist contract in New London, New Hampshire! The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of outpatients in compliance with licensure standards. The Speech Language Pathologist works with an interdisciplinary team to identify patient goals, barriers to discharge and ongoing speech language services. This position provides patient centered care and exercises independent judgement in planning, organizing and prioritizing workload.Location : New London, New HampshireSetting : Acute Inpatient / Swing / Outpatient - HospitalSchedule : Days; M-F (5x8)Start Date : 3 / 24 / 25Speech-Language Pathologist Duties : - Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.- Based on medical referral, medical record, and examination therapist evaluates, sets goals, plans, and executes treatment. Reports findings to other health care team members.- Provides discharge recommendations, exercise programs, and family teaching, as appropriate.- Determines the need to refer patients to other diagnostic, medical, and therapeutic services.- Provides accurate and timely documentation and record keeping. Uses effective time management to coordinate scheduling of patients and meetings, and treats patients on time.- Demonstrates competency with patient equipment appropriate to the work setting.- Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommends change to physician, if needed.- Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments, as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious / spiritual needs of patients and their families.- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
