Summary:
Capstone IT is helping our client find a Senior Data Engineer – Operational Data to design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows as part of a modernization initiative. This role involves migrating from IBM DataStage to Python-based scripting and cloud technologies while ensuring data quality and integrity. The ideal candidate will mentor mid-level developers, lead modernization efforts, and optimize SQL-based data workflows in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and migrate ETL workflows from IBM DataStage to Python-based solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and efficiency in operational data stores.
- Mentor mid-level developers and provide technical leadership.
- Support cloud migration efforts and transition from graphical ETL to scripting-based automation.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Enterprise Technology teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8 years of IT experience, including 6 years working with relational databases.
- 6 years of SQL experience (querying, optimization, data transformation).
- 4 years of Python experience (scripting, automation, ETL development).
- 8 years of experience using ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, IBM DataStage).
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, data architecture, and performance tuning.
Nice to have:
- SQL Programming in DB2 and SQL Server.
- Workday programming experience (Big Plus).
- Experience with Docker and Jenkins.
- Leadership experience in mentoring & coaching developers.
