What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Capstone Mining?
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for enhancing the performance and dependability of mechanical systems by working closely with team members and conducting analysis to identify solutions that optimize maintenance practices, reduce downtime, and improve the overall reliability of our equipment. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for not only identification of solutions, but organization and execution of projects and corrective actions to ensure safe completion and effective implementation. This position also works with the Superintendent of Assets & Reliability to implement the overall strategy and provides expertise, knowledge and guidance for maintenance practices, condition monitoring techniques, and Non-Destructive Testing techniques and application.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Balance of field and office work. Field work includes Processing Plant, Open Pit, Mobile Maintenance Truck Shop and Field Service locations, and Outlying Pumps and Piping Systems
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exemplify the Capstone Copper Values in all efforts and interactions while working in compliance with all MSHA safety guidelines and Pinto Valley Mine policies and procedures.
- Ensure that you are certified to execute the tasks / jobs assigned.
- Ensure knowledge of reliability and condition monitoring maintenance targets to ensure processing throughput matches the mining plan and identify opportunities for improvement
- Spend appropriate time in the field to gather information and data to identification of opportunities for improvement and associated projects
- Provide expertise, leadership, and guidance to internal and external departments as required
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to aid in developing and implementing Reliability and Condition Monitoring maintenance programs and operations to maximize maintenance efficiency and resources
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to aid in developing and implementing Reliability and Condition Monitoring maintenance programs, processes, and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards
- Identify potential issues and collaborate with other department management to prevent, mitigate, or resolve these issues in a real-time environment
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment downtime events that meet the RCA criteria developed by maintenance execution and reliability
- Implement initiatives to optimize existing business systems, processes, practices, and equipment to improve the overall performance of the function and department
- Investigate and identify options and recommend short and long-term projects and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of Reliability and Condition Monitoring maintenance operations
- Review and interpret P&ID’s, schematics, and technical information
- Implement new technology solutions to upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, quality controls, and environmental protection.
- Identify potential trials seeking to reduce or predict equipment failures or reduce failure cost/impact
- Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office software to enter, update and/or research information.
- Responsible for but not limited to all tasks/duties assigned or required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

- 3 years in Mechanical or Reliability Engineering
Preferred:
- 5 years in Mechanical or Reliability Engineering
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA):
- Mine Operations / Concentrator / Maintenance experience highly regarded
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, with Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
- Knowledge with Non-Destructive Testing and condition monitoring highly regarded
- Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) highly regarded
- Project Management understanding for organization and execution of a project
- SAP experience a plus
- Familiarity with equipment
- Makes effective contributions using team concepts and working within a multi discipline Maintenance team
- Intermediate to Proficient computer skills, spreadsheets; Microsoft Office, Outlook
- Able to speak, comprehend, and write English
