Job Title : Tailings Engineer
POSITION PURPOSE
Collaborate with Sr. Tailings Engineer to ensure good TSF performance through the Capstone Tailings Management System. Work with tailings operations on a regular basis to ensure proper TSF construction and effective management of tailings in accordance with the Operation and Maintenance Manual (O&M).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Exemplify the Capstone Copper Values in all efforts and interactions while working in compliance with all MSHA safety guidelines and Pinto Valley Mine policies and procedures.
Ensure that you are certified to execute the tasks / jobs assigned.
Develop Weekly / Monthly Project Schedules :
Schedule crane moves and tailings disposal locations
Includes breakdowns as appropriate
Lead geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, data collection, review, and maintenance with the assistance of the Jr Tailings Engineer.
Participate in internal and external TSF inspections
Lead document control of geotechnical data, operational data, CAD database
Technical review of EoR deliverables
Contribute to capital and expense budgeting for projects
Work with EoR on planning of field investigations and studies
Support updates of O&M, EAP (emergency action plan) in collaboration with the Sr. Tailings Engineer
Assist Sr. Tailings Engineer to define and / or review scopes of work to be completed
Produce cost estimates as required, liaising with Supply Chain and Procurement teams
Initiate the interface between mill operations and other business areas to develop an integrated plan.
Ensure all consultants, contractors and vendors are working in compliance with all Pinto Valley Mine procedures.
Track TSF performance according to TSF construction strategies, using survey / design tools and field observations, and adjust plans in collaboration with EoR
Support in the preparation of long-term plans and short-term schedules that allow for the appropriate utilization and management of equipment and resources.
Assist with developing and / or reviewing standard jobs / task lists / safe work instructions, etc.
Identify opportunity for improvement within ongoing tasks and efforts
Assist with the implementation of industry and global tailings standards and reporting.

YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE :

3 years in the field of tailings or relevant engineering field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA) :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Strong time management skills required
Knowledge in the principles of TSF design, construction, operation, maintenance, and surveillance.
Knowledge in the principles of soil / rock mechanics, stability analysis and general geotechnical engineering.
Knowledge of general civil engineering principles.
Knowledge of survey equipment, procedures, and principles
