Position Title: Desk Assistant - Student Position
Supervisor Titles: Assistant General Manager of Leasing
Location of Position: San Diego State University - Fraternity Row
FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt Part-Time
Summary:
The Desk Assistant is responsible for answering phones, maintain communication between customers and the management staff, leasing and touring, problem solving, checking out equipment, sort and distribute mail, conducting move-in and move-outs, walking units, assisting with administrative tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work assigned office/desk shifts.
- Filing, organizing and other administrative tasks
- Always remain at office/desk area unless a task and/or request require them to be elsewhere in the community (e.g. property tour, lock-out, on campus)
- Answer the telephone and email messages
- Give tours and answer various questions regarding the leasing process.
- Communicate with professional staff and campus partners as needed
- Assist residents locked out of assigned apartment/room
- Input maintenance order requests
- Secure the office/desk area.
- Greet residents or visitors, answer general questions.
- Display professionalism, initiative, and flexibility when interacting with guests, housing staff, and all University personnel.
- Assure courteous handling of all guest issues and complaints
- Assist Resident Assistants with housing questions or protocol at the front desk
- Other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma.
- Current student at San Diego State University
- Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
- Possess strong customer service skills.
- Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Work Hours
Works up to 20-hours a week.
