Job Title: Student Maintenance Assistant
Reports To: Assistant Director of Operations
Location: The Heights at Montclair State University
Compensation: $20.00 per hour up to 28 hours per week.
FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt Part-Time Position
Summary
The Student Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with the preventative maintenance tasks and summer projects in the community and daily office tasks in the Capstone Office. The Student Maintenance Assistant ensures the office operates smoothly by managing varied responsibilities that keep the office running.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Follow office workflow procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Maintain files and records with effective filing systems.
- Support the team with various administrative tasks (redirecting calls, disseminating correspondence, scheduling meetings etc.)
- Greet and assist visitors when they arrive at the office.
- General cleaning of the grounds.
- Replacing air filters.
- Replacing light bulbs.
- Distributing items to apartments.
- Painting, dry wall repair, and custodial work.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma.
- Currently matriculating in a college or university
- Working knowledge of office equipment (e.g. optical scanner)
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs and navigate up and down stairs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
- Possess strong customer service skills.
- Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Position works up to 28 hours per week during the hours of Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.
