Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Managing Engineer to lead complex engineering projects and provide technical expertise across multiple disciplines. This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least 10 years of experience, capable of managing project teams, ensuring quality assurance, and contributing to business development. The ideal candidate will play a key role in mentoring staff, maintaining client relationships, and driving innovation within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
- Independently apply extensive engineering knowledge to solve complex challenges.
- Develop and implement new techniques, processes, and materials to enhance project efficiency.
- Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Serve as a technical specialist or advisor to senior leadership and project teams.
Project & Team Management:
- Lead and manage major projects or multiple projects of moderate scope.
- Supervise and coordinate project teams, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Conduct project meetings and ensure effective communication between staff and stakeholders.
- Assist in hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluation of engineering staff.
Business Development & Client Engagement:
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and subconsultants.
- Assist in contract negotiations, project proposals, and securing project funding.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and professional organizations.
- Contribute to establishing business development goals and implementation strategies.
Operational & Financial Management:
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and ensure timely invoicing.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.S.) from an ABET/EAC accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, quality assurance, and project delivery methodologies.
- Leadership Skills: Experience supervising teams, mentoring staff, and managing project finances.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to represent the company at industry events and client meetings.
- Business Development: Experience in preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and fostering client relationships.
