Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and execute engineering projects across multiple disciplines. This role requires a Professional Engineer (PE) License (or working towards) and at least 6 years of experience in project design, technical problem-solving, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will take ownership of project delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to budgets while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

• Independently evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Design complete projects within the assigned practice area, including systems, components, and processes.
• Prepare comprehensive project documents and technical reports.
• Solve complex engineering problems with innovative and practical solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate various engineering principles.

Project & Team Management:

• Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work for multiple projects.
• Assign tasks to, direct, and review the work of engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
• Assist in evaluating staff performance, estimating manpower needs, and participating in the hiring process.
• Maintain project budgets and schedules to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery.
• Support Managing Engineers in preparing scopes, budgets, and project schedules.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support.

Business Development & Client Engagement:

• Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and subconsultants.
• Participate in business development activities, including proposals for professional services and project funding.
• Attend project meetings, present technical solutions, and engage with stakeholders.

Operational & Financial Management:

• Assist senior management in preparing project progress reports and invoices.
• Ensure compliance with project budgets and financial objectives.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project efficiency.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 6 years of professional engineering experience.
• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License required (or working towards).
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in engineering principles, project management, and problem-solving.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing project teams and mentoring junior staff.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders effectively.
• Business Acumen: Experience with project proposals, budgeting, and financial oversight.
