Purchasing Buyer

An industry leading Fortune1000 industrial manufacturing organization seeks to hire a Buyer/Procurement Specialist at their flagship production campus in the Greater Pittsburgh, PA area. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this position will be responsible for the purchasing of commodities, services, and CapEx projects for the operation. This is a permanent, direct hire opportunity based in Eastern Ohio.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage the procurement of plant commodity items, services, and capital equipment to ensure cost-effectiveness, compliance, and efficiency.
• Initiate and negotiate purchase contracts, supplier agreements, and cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with corporate policies, ISO standards, and SOX regulations.
• Analyze supplier operations, pricing, and cost conditions to optimize supply chain performance and negotiate favorable payment terms.
• Resolve procurement discrepancies, including pricing issues, warranty claims, over-shipments, and returns, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely deliveries, evaluate potential vendors, and implement strategic sourcing initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Purchasing, or a related field required.
• Minimum of three years of purchasing experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost reductions and manage capital expenditure projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with SAP or another ERP system.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
