The Director of Purchasing will play an integral role in Supply Chain of the Captain D’s brand.
A person who fits the role will leverage their proven track record to lead and support the procurement and contract management for all supply chains. The role will also play a key part in having the best food, non-food products, and services that meet our specified quality and financial standards, resulting in direct and measurables contributions to sales and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Make recommendations which deliver the best balance of quality, price and service. Specific expertise in commodities and prepared foods.
- Maintain prices at or below market indices by controlling costs.
- Contribute to overall brand strategy, as well as packaging and product innovation.
- Ensure supplier capability and quality levels meet our standards.
- Accurately forecast cost and availability trends for planning, budgeting, negotiations and product management.
- Optimize production and inventory levels at manufacturers and distributors to ensure reliability and lowest total cost and avid costs for discontinued/obsolete inventory.
- Develop effective product solutions for new menu items by working collaboratively with the R&D and Marketing departments on product sourcing and innovation and negotiating and managing new menu item introduction with our suppliers.
- Improve product effectiveness and efficiency on a continuing basis by developing additional sources and improved product, packaging and distribution solutions collaboratively with other departments.
- Implement new products keeping all stakeholders informed while managing all steps within the process (supplier approval, item set-up, inventory, communications).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, Communications, or equivalent required.
- CRM/Loyalty Program experience preferred.
- Strong copy writing skills tailored towards digital marketing and communication.
- Photography, graphic design skills highly preferred.
- Strong communication, attention to detail, organizational and deadline driven skills.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of restaurant purchasing or related.
- Working with internal cross- functional as well as external creative teams and agency partners.
- Procuring/Resourcing new products and vendors; negotiating pricing and supply chain and maintaining strong relationships.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Is a Supply Chain expert.
- Is experienced in content development, internal communications, and proficiency in all social networks.
- Has a strong understanding and knowledge of purchasing principles and practices, purchasing law and contracting terms.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and make contracting recommendations based on sound judgment, problem solving, and financial analysis,
- Proficient in Microsoft Software, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Able to create reporting and spreadsheets using excel.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, cross-collaboration, and team skills.
