About the role:
Captions is the leading AI video platform used by millions of creators and companies to generate short-form video. As our first Community Manager, you’ll have a rare opportunity to build our community efforts from the ground up—with full support and buy-in from the entire team. We’re sitting on a massive, engaged user base and a blank slate when it comes to community: it’s all yours to shape!
This is a high-impact, highly visible role for someone who wants to design and execute the full spectrum of community strategy—from choosing the right platforms to engaging users online and in real life.
We’re looking for someone who has experience working with businesses of all sizes on their video creative, and knows how to create real value through community.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll own and execute our community strategy from the ground up—building programs, leading conversations, and creating spaces where our customers feel supported, inspired, and connected.
Build Community Infrastructure
Launch and manage community channels. Eg., Slack, Discord, Reddit, public forums, reviews, and newsletters
Set the strategy and execution plan for building vibrant spaces for B2C and B2B customers
Own content distribution for changelogs, insider updates, and product announcements
Drive Community Engagement and Events
Plan and host live and virtual events: AMAs, roundtables, podcasts, meetups, and more
Collaborate with our customer base to spotlight stories and successes
Organize and experiment with new formats and initiatives.
Develop Scalable Programs
Launch customer-centric initiatives: advisory board, ambassador programs, user groups
Run giveaways, contests, and appreciation campaigns (yes, there will be SWAG)
Oversee programs that drive customer love and deepen brand loyalty
Be the Voice of the Community
Act as the liaison between our customers and internal teams—product, support, marketing
Surface community feedback and insights to help guide roadmap and experience improvements
Serve as a subject matter expert and be the face of Captions in external communities
Requirements:
Preferred Experience
3–6 years building or managing online communities, ideally at a SaaS company
Experience launching and growing platforms like Discord, Slack, and forums from scratch
Comfortable using video editing software and AI tools like Captions, Descript, Runway, Pika, etc.
Comfortable on camera (we can clone you, don’t worry) and excited to be interacting with customers one-on-one and one-to-many—this role involves customer onboarding, education, and hosting live training sessions
Clear, fast, and engaging communicator—both in writing and verbally
Optimistic, curious, and have embraced AI and emerging technologies
Familiar with B2B SaaS best practices and customer lifecycle journeys
Nice-to-Haves
Background in video and generative AI
Prior experience at product-led startups and companies
You’ve hosted community events, built user programs, or managed influencer/creator relationships
Comfortable with AI and automation tools like Bolt, Replit, Zapier, Make.com, Gumloop, and a general understanding of APIs

Compensation Range: $100K - $165K
Salary : $100,000 - $165,000
