WHO are we looking for?
CAPTRUST is seeking a Corporate Counsel with relevant experience in litigation and arbitration. The ideal candidate will have experience handling litigation related to investment advisory and/or ERISA matters. A successful candidate will have a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving while mitigating legal risks for the company. The role will include responsibility to coordinate matters with external counsel and internal stakeholders. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working with all levels of management to gain an in-depth understanding of our strategy and services. He/She/They will maintain the highest professional and ethical standards, have excellent time management, organization, and decision-making abilities, be able to prioritize projects and deadlines, be collaborative, and accountable while performing in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Primary responsibilities may include the following, among others:
Responsibilities
- Working with internal legal team and outside counsel on the company’s response to various commercial disputes, including federal and state litigation matters, arbitration and mediation
- Coordinating timely subpoena responses
- Gathering and reviewing relevant documentation for responsiveness and identifying potential legal risks
- Supporting client legal proceedings as needed, including coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to address subpoenas, depositions, and informal requests for information
- Managing internal records holds policies and procedures
- Providing additional legal support and counsel to business groups across the firm
- Participating in firm initiatives relating to litigation, risk management, or other legal matters
- Communicate clearly and accurately across various levels
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from accredited law school
- Licensed to practice and in good standing in applicable jurisdiction
- 5 years of experience in litigation management, with preferred in-house
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- Knowledge of ERISA and applicable DOL rules
- Investment advisory industry experience
