Resource Specialist – Capuchin Community Services, Milwaukee, WI
The Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order

brotherhood in the world. We attend simply and directly to the spiritual and other basic human
needs, especially those of the poor and disenfranchised, promoting justice for all.
Capuchin Community Services (CCS) is a ministry of the Province of St. Joseph. Some of the
services include a pantry, clothing closet and meal program at its two locations. The Resource
Specialist will work at both the House of Peace and St. Ben’s Meal Site to seek, plan, advocate
for and monitor services from various human services and healthcare organizations on behalf
of our guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate, exemplify and support the Franciscan Charism and Provincial Mission,
- Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, assess, develop and monitor individual plan
- Conduct interviews with guests to determine their eligibility for emergency services
- Collaborate with CCS staff to assist guests in accessing appropriate external and internal
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside resources to ensure best opportunities
- Assist with special projects, distributions or groups within ministry
- Be available to assist with and attend CCS events and activities
- With guidance from Assistant Director, develop and lead small groups such as Jobs Club
- Attend continuing education when appropriate to increase knowledge for serving guests
- Assist staff when needed to ensure continuity of ministry
- Maintain records of services to guests
- Make referrals to other human service organization and healthcare agencies
- Comply with Province and ministry policy, procedures, guidelines and standards
Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work program or BSW or similar
degree; experience with culturally diverse populations; knowledge of CCS programs and
services; ability to effective engage with guests, effect MS Office communication, problem
solving, interpersonal and organizational skill; familiar with Milwaukee community and
resources or ability to learn, ability to successfully deal with persons in stressful circumstances
and to handle quickly changing priorities
