Summary:
As a member of the Domestic Sales Department, the Domestic Freight Manager has a thorough understanding of transportation and logistics principles. They oversee all aspects of the company’s US and Canadian in- and out-bound shipments via truckload, less-than-truck, and parcel carriers.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and maintains all freight functions within an internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and multiple customer Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Manages the planning and scheduling of hundreds of weekly shipments.
- Follows unique routing guides specific to hundreds of customers to insure accurate shipment and delivery of goods.
- Selects carriers, manages relationships, and negotiates rates. Keeps up to date on those carriers, routes and changes.
- Ensures adherence to transportation regulations.
- Addresses transportation issues like unexpected delays, damaged goods, carrier disruptions and unexpected fees/fines.
- Works closely across numerous departments including Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance and Warehouse/Shipping.
- Leads, mentors, and manages the Domestic Freight Department including the Logistics Clerk.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience in the transportation/logistics field.
- Minimum 1 year people management experience.
Salary: $72,500 - $90,625
