Purchasing Agent

America’s Car-Mart, Inc. is seeking an organized, hard charging, and detailed individual to purchase vehicles. If you have automotive mechanical knowledge, ability to build a great rapport with vendors and with the public, and have some great negotiating skills, this may be the job for you!

Compensation: $40,000 plus bonus opportunity

Responsibilities

• Locate and identify used vehicles for sale that fit within Car-Mart parameters and negotiate the purchase with vendors
• Visit dealerships you purchase vehicles for on a regular basis and discuss dealership purchasing needs with General Manager
• Continually develop new sources of vehicles.
• Drive, inspect, and fill out an incoming unit checklist for new vehicle purchases
• Maintain accurate records, payment and titles for vehicles purchased
• Ensure each wholesaler fulfills our purchase requirements such as changing oil & filter, making extra keys, etc.
• Enter purchases into company database; communicate with Corporate Office daily.
• Adhere to the purchasing guidelines and policies as set forth by the Corporate Office.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic Mechanical Knowledge – Able to diagnose through sight, sound, or other inspections the condition of vehicles about to be purchased.
• Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions.
• Interpersonal Skills - Maintains confidentiality; good listening skills; keeps calm under pressure.
• Uses sound discretion and independent judgment.
• Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification.
• Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
