Title of the Role:
Junior Designer
The Junior Designer supports the Design team in creating collections that align with our brand's vision at Cara Cara. This role is vital to our creative process. The Junior Designer will report to the Head of Design and collaborate closely with design, technical design and production to execute seasonal concepts. This role is heavily knit focused with overlap into wovens.
What you’ll do
- Supporting the knit and woven design teams in all capacities including sketching, CADing, and facilitating the set up of tech packs.
- CAD both knits and wovens by hand and in Adobe Illustrator
- Communicating with suppliers to source fabrics, trims, and accessories
- Maintaining detailed design development binders of all fabrications, lab dips, & trims used each season, as well as maintaining fabric & trim approval binders for bulk
- Making all lab dip comments
- Set up design development charts
- Assist woven & knits teams with BOM entry and tech pack set up
- Assist woven team with design development sheets
- Preparing design boards, color palettes, & design presentations
- Liaise between design, tech design, production, and marketing teams
- Tracking inbound and outbound samples
- Help build knit organizational tracking charts and knit linesheets
- Sample management; organizing photoshoot samples & sending samples to the showroom
- Strong communication with the showroom regarding sample trafficking
What you’ll bring
- A minimum of 2 years experience
- Proficiency in Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Knowledge in knitwear construction
- An understanding of how to CAD prints, jacquard patterns, and complex knit stitches
- Hands on experience in garment construction

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
