Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President & CEO will be an innovative leader committed to and passionate about world class music who will provide vision, strategic direction, and general management for Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. The President & CEO will oversee day-to-day operations of this multifaceted cultural institution as well as general management of the organization, including all administrative, fundraising, audience development, fiscal oversight, educational outreach, community relations, and collaborative ventures and partnerships, while also ensuring that all physical, logistical, and production aspects of Caramoor are expertly managed. The President & CEO will implement an evolving and forward-thinking artistic and business model that positions Caramoor for the future. The President & CEO will work closely with the Vice President for Artistic Programming, helping to realize the artistic and strategic aspirations of the organization while respecting Caramoor's history, ensuring fiscal health, and implementing sound management practices. The President & CEO will ensure Caramoor keeps pace with evolving musical tastes and preferences, nurtures the creative interests of its constituents, and avails itself of enhanced presentation and educational opportunities, partnerships, and new technologies. The President & CEO will develop marketing and engagement initiatives that complement and balance current institutional strengths and constituent interests and serve as Caramoor's chief external spokesperson and advocate.
Caramoor's mission is to enrich the lives of audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality, mentor young professional musicians, and engage children through interactive educational experiences that deepen their relationship to and understanding of music. These three fundamentals music performance, musician mentoring, and music education infuse all aspects of Caramoor's work. Recognized for its rich and storied history, the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts is a leading cultural center in the New York metropolitan region and is known as a "year-round powerhouse of cultural activity" ( BBC Music Magazine ). True to the vision of its founders, Walter and Lucie Rosen, Caramoor is a place where visitors can be refreshed and renewed by the convergence of an exciting mix of exceptional and diverse live music performances, the beauty of an art-filled historic home, and spectacular gardens and grounds. Located on a 80-acre campus in Katonah, New York, Caramoor annually presents more than 60 live performances, featuring a wide range of genres. Audiences are invited to explore the lush grounds, tour the historic Rosen House, enjoy a pre-concert picnic, and discover beautiful music in the relaxed settings of the Venetian Theater, Spanish Courtyard, Music Room, and Friends Field. Caramoor also helps to train the next generation of classical musicians and provides free-of-charge music-based arts education to local schoolchildren.
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least ten years of leadership experience, ideally in a public or non-profit music-related setting where knowledge of and engagement with a range of music genres may be obtained, is preferred for this role. Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. The salary range for this position is $300,000 to $350,000 annually.
