Responsibilities:
The Residential Advisor (RA) is responsible for the daily operation of the residential services. Responsibilities include implementing program services including medication monitoring, transportation, development of household living skills and responsibilities, health and nutrition basics, social activities, and the integration of residential guidelines with practical employment concerns for all clients.
Essential Functions: The RA must be able to perform the following tasks daily:
· Implement residential services for clients while supporting client accountability for their own individual progress; provide guidance and support in development of independent living skills, monitor and give feedback regarding client’s progress towards goals, and assist with orientation of new clients.
· Monitor client behavior and include significant observations in daily shift report. Notify the Mental Health Director, Program Director, and other services as instructed when psychiatric intervention, medical treatment, emergency services, crisis response, or client redirection is required.
· Monitor client’s self-administering of medications and complete necessary related documentation.
· Provide scheduled transportation for clients utilizing the Caramore vehicles as scheduled on the transportation calendar (“rides board”). Require clients to record in writing all ride requests not already listed on rides board. Support client accountability for increasing independence in transportation.
· Encourage clients to be responsible for following a budget. Encourage planning and prudence in the purchase of food, personal items, and household items.
· Monitor client hygiene and upkeep of the residences. Remind clients to practice appropriate hygiene and maintenance on their person and possessions, apartments, and entrance areas.
· Require clients to report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance by emailing repair requests to and calling the Program Director for large leaks and emergency maintenance.
· Maintain regular communication as directed through daily shift report emails and by phone.
· Attend all scheduled meetings, including monthly RA meetings, In-Service trainings, and clinical supervision meetings with Program Director.
· Model appropriate behavior and maintain therapeutic, caring attitude towards clients and their problems. Support client accountability and self-advocacy.
· Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. All Caramore employees may provide First Aid or CPR to clients or co-workers on a “Good Samaritan” basis. Respond to crisis as needed and transport to Urgent Care or ED when indicated.
· Cooperate with the Program Director in developing and implementing residential policies and procedures.
· All staff members are encouraged to use positive interventions (praise) prior to utilizing negative interventions (reprimand) to address maladaptive behaviors.
Non-Essential Functions
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the RA Position
High school education. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
