Position Summary: The Quality Control Manager plays a vital role in supporting overall plant operations, including operator assistance, clay handling, shipping, and screener room management.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Manages performance of all Quality Control Technicians involved in inspection and quality control procedures regarding purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved. Conduct annual performance appraisals. Document performance as needed. Implement corrective action as appropriate to ensure maximum productivity in technician performance. Work with Human Resources and Plant Manager to effectively recruit to fill vacant positions. Make recommendations to plant manager to optimize employee and company performance.
- Develop and/or adapt inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions about procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
- Responsible for QC budget.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining an adequate supply of usable raw materials.
- Responsible for compilation and maintenance of inspection reports and records.
- Ensure the correct final product and the correct amount/weight of such is shipped to customers via the specified routes.
- Use logic & statistical data to identify and resolve production quality issues.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly environmental reports required by the facility’s Title V permit.
- Responsible for the facility’s Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Performs other related tasks when necessary or as required.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- BS degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Five years related industry experience with two years supervisory experience, or considerable responsible experience in plant operations.
- Ability to comprehend and demonstrate oral and written instructions.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software products and graphics software.
- Proficient use of SAP software system.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
