Position Summary: The Senior Multi-craft Maintenance Tech is responsible for safely installing, maintaining, and repairing production and quality equipment to achieve maximum production capability while ensuring plant reliability. Conducts all work in accordance with the CARBO Mission Statement and Core Values.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Exhibits an in-depth knowledge of and performance capabilities in Multi-Craft job responsibilities plus in areas such as electrical & instrumentation, millwright, welding & fabrication, machining, rotary equipment maintenance, etc. to ensure production and quality goals are met.
- Assist in training Maintenance Techs in all aspects and responsibilities of the job requirement.
- Performs routine and non-routine repairs, installation, and service on both electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Willing to learn all aspects of plant operation, fill in wherever needed to optimize plant efficiency.
- Performing other related tasks when necessary
- Provides training to Shift and Day Shift Maintenance Techs
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights & weekend as needed.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair all types of electrical motor control systems, VFD’s, emergency generating equipment including transfer switches, PLC’s & IO, instrumentation, burner management systems and other electrical systems and/or machine parts such as keyways, drive shafts, sprockets, bushings, bearing housings and/or service, align, track, adjust rotary equipment including trunnions, drive gears, etc.
- Experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment including but not limited to proper lubrication practices, ability to identify defects in bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, mechanical drive systems, etc.
- In depth industrial electrical and mechanical skills including conveying, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, as well as the ability to read and interpret manuals, electrical drawings and schematics.
- Working knowledge of pyro equipment and burner management systems including kiln, dryers, calciners and propane vaporizers.
- Proficiency in in welding, fabrication and piping.
- Sound capability in millwright type work including installation of new equipment and modification of existing equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills combined with the ability to operate mobile equipment and perform heavy lifting are needed. As well as the ability to work in a dusty environment and temperatures in excess of 100 degrees.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders multiple times daily and occasionally work in confined spaces.
- 10 years in Industrial Maintenance or related field experience is required.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
