Title: Communications Technician

Full Time
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Overall Responsibility:
Install, maintain, and repair communication systems
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair 2-way radio, microwave, network radio, audio, video, backup generator, and television translator systems.
Assist in maintaining county network infrastructure.
Troubleshoot, repair and install telecommunications equipment.
Assist the public with television questions and problems in a professional manner.
Operate Snow Cat in Hazardous conditions.
May be asked to assist with operating equipment for special events.
Skills and Attributes:
Knowledge of principals, theory, methods, materials, and equipment used in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of IP and analog telephone systems, network radio systems, microwave networks, video systems, audio systems, and digital television repeater systems; Federal rules and regulations affecting communications systems operation.
Skilled in: reading blueprints, schematics, diagnosing problems in radio and other equipment; perform skilled work in repairing, and installing, 2 way radio, microwave, network radio, audio, video, backup generator and television translator systems
Proficiency in using: power tools, hand tools, and test equipment including; service monitors, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, tone generators, power meters, and voltmeters.
Must be detail oriented and self-directing as necessary.
Experience Requirement:
Experience in maintenance, installation, and repair of communication systems
Class A CDL
Physical Effort/Environment:
When talking one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information
Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to a of intellectual and practical problems
Able to deal with
Performing essential function of this job requires incumbent to: lift objects weight up to75 pounds; climb and work on towers, ladders, and man lifts; work in confined spaces;
Perform full range body motions involving reaching, bending, grasping and climbing; and
possess color vision.
Requires working odd hours and being available on call.
Required to work extensively outdoors and work in inclement weather.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
