What are the responsibilities and job description for the Archivist/Records Director Trainee position at Carbon County?
OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB: To ensure the proper maintenance, storage, retrieval and preservation of all County records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma, business or technical school. 2 years of working experience in records maintenance, and microfilming, business operating and filing systems or any acceptable equivalent combination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
1. Implements programs related to the operations of the Archives of County records.
2. Ensures security and preservation over historical County documents.
3. Develops and implements retention schedules of County records for legal disposal based on local, state, and federal laws.
4. Develops and administers the microfilming coding system.
5. Maintains petty cash and balances on a regular basis.
6. Answers inquiries regarding archives data and retrieval of such as needed.
7. Maintains appropriate files and descriptions of records to ensure proper inventory control.
8. Supervises staff, assigns and reviews work and handles all related personnel issues.

9. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions which circumstances warrant such action.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Works indoors in limited workspace, lighting and fluctuation in ventilation and temperatures.
2. Works with above average exposure to dirt/dust/mold and occasional exposure to fumes/odors due to close proximity to cleaning/maintenance supplies.
3. Works with above average exposure to noise, stress and regular disruptions.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
2. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk intermittently throughout workday with frequent periods of climbing, carrying, overhead reaching, reaching and grasping, with occasional twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing/pulling necessary to carry out duties of the job.
3. Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs; torso necessary to carry out job duties.
4. Medium work with regular lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of fifty pounds.
5. Must be able to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position.
6. Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.
