Private not-for-profit Drug & Alcohol program is seeking an experienced D&A Prevention Specialist to work based out of its Lehighton, PA office. Position is new, providing tertiary prevention services, including case management work with both students and their families. Working primarily in Lehighton and Panther Valley School Districts and out in the local community, along with some in-office work.
Candidate must possess minimum of BS/BA in Psychology/Sociology/Human Services and have a minimum of 2 years Drug and Alcohol Prevention and/or case management work experience, prior case management work and/or prevention work within a school system a plus. Position requires the ability to relate to children and adolescents as well as their family, with working knowledge of local available resources, social service agencies and communication/computer skills a must. Position requires valid driver’s license and access to automobile.
Position provides specialized tertiary prevention services within Lehighton and Panther Valley school districts and local community, providing prevention case management to high-risk students and their families, who may be referred by guidance counselors, SAP teams, other social service agencies and/or as self-referrals. Position works with families and brokers any necessary available resources to help with barriers to the student and their family’s success, meeting with family members off-site at their appointments, other agencies, schools, public places or in-office as needed to assist navigating those resources and provide support to ensure successful outcomes. This new program focuses around the social determinants of health, including domains of neighborhood/built environment, economic stability, health care access/quality, education access/quality and social and community context.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position, typical schedule Mon/Wed/Fri 8-4:30 and Tues/Thurs 11:30-8:00pm, weekend work only on occasion.
