Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an opening for a qualified Science Teacher for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This teacher will be expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for high school Science. The High School Science Teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of experience.
Functions and Responsibilities include:
- Create hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement to science.
- Demonstrate scientific concept using models, technology, and other standards or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, lab experiments, and assignments in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement a curriculum and lessons that will foster knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in the grades assigned.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in science, education, or related field encouraged.
- Florida Department of Education Teacher Certification.
- Three (3) years or more of experience.
- Knowledge of scientific field and strategies for engagement, instruction, and assessment.
- Knowledge and training in lab experiments.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Software proficiency in Microsoft, Zoom, and Notability.
- Excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
- Strong presentation skills and knowledge with use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
- Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in the Roman Catholic environment preferred.
- Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance.
