JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide support for the Safety Department. The Safety Technician will assist the Safety Manager in adhering to federal and state regulations and company safety and environmental policies. May work on the production floor or in the office to assist in the day-to-day activities associated with safety.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the implementation of safety programs and associated activities.
- Filing/scanning of all training documentation.
- Assist with coordinating meetings and training with internal and external departments as needed.
- As needed, assist with safety training at weekly meetings, daily safety huddles, and new hire safety orientations.
- Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, and Local regulations, and company requirements.
- Assist in conducting job site and work area inspections.
- Assist in maintaining safety records, including training records, safety data sheets, chemical inventory, incident investigations, and metrics.
- Assist in performing a training gap analysis and follow-up.
- Assist leaders and associates in identifying and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Assist in incident investigations to identify root causes of workplace incidents to develop solutions that prevent recurrence.
- Conducts and/or coordinates training of workers concerning safety laws and regulations, use of safety equipment, devices, clothing, and first aid.
- Assist and support the safety committee, VPP employee engagement team, and first responders.
- Assist with the LMS System as needed.
- Coordinate Industrial Massage therapy appointments / Virtual First Aid appointments.
- May assist with other departments as needed.
- Other various duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
- Continue professional development as required.
- Support and participate in VPP’s Special Government Employee (SGE) program
