Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating mechanical, plumbing, and sheet metal construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. This role requires strong leadership to manage project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, procurement, labor productivity, cost control, and project closeout. The Project Manager will work closely with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality results.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of project teams.
- Ensure all project documentation is properly handled to mitigate risk and protect company and client interests.
- Secure, review, process, and execute contract agreements in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
- Collaborate with field supervision teams to create a cohesive project execution strategy.
- Conduct pre-construction meetings to establish clear project expectations.
- Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained and properly displayed.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with milestones.
- Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, focusing on cost efficiency and timely delivery.
- Negotiate, prepare, and execute subcontractor agreements.
- Review and manage project submittals, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Develop and maintain billing schedules, ensuring proper cash flow management.
- Oversee timely invoicing, including progress billing and retention payments.
- Identify, negotiate, and process project change orders as needed.
- Ensure projects are adequately staffed and labor resources are effectively managed.
- Monitor use of tools and rental equipment, ensuring cost efficiency and timely returns.
- Manage overall financial performance of assigned projects, including cost tracking and forecasting.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring all employees and subcontractors follow proper safety guidelines.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 6-10 years of progressive experience in construction project management.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans, contracts, reports, and legal documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships effectively.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, talk, and hear for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working at heights, including using ladders and accessing rooftops.
Work Environment
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Regular interaction with moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Occasional exposure to elevated workspaces, airborne particles, and electrical hazards.
- Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
