SUPERVISES AND COORDINATES ACTIVITIES OF WORKERS ENGAGED IN PACKING PARTS. MAINTAINS RECORDS OF INCOMING AND OUTGOING SHIPMENTS AND PREPARES ITEMS FOR SHIPMENT.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervises employees and activities in the Shipping/Receiving Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping employees.
- Works with lists to prioritize and schedule items to be made ready for shipment.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
- Counts, wraps, and packs parts, according to specifications, into cartons and onto pallets for shipment to outside service vendors and customers.
- Inspects packing operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Prepares packing slips and shipping labels for ground freight shipments.
- Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Maintains finished goods inventory.
- Verifies daily inspection of forklift.
- Posts weight and shipping charges.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
- Other duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to read, interpret and understand customer drawings and specifications.

- Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
