Job Summary

Reporting to the President, the Advancement Director is responsible for leading the fundraising efforts of Cardinal Newman High School with the goal of achieving outcomes that advance the mission, values, strategic goals, and financial sustainability of the school. The Advancement Director builds and fosters relationships with alumni, board members, current and future families, and constituents. Responsibilities include oversight and management of major gift solicitations, including corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, endowments, capital campaigns, and fundraising through special events and school sponsorships. The Advancement Director works closely with the President, the Annual Fund Director, the Alumni Director, school leadership and parent volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Strategic Solicitation & Stewardship: Develop and execute personalized solicitation plans in coordination with the President and the school's Advancement Department. Engage prospects for the Annual Fund, endowments, school sponsorships, capital gifts, and introduce planned giving opportunities as appropriate.
  • Fundraising Goal Achievement: Meet defined performance goals, including regular prospect visits and fundraising targets, aligned with industry best practices for major gift fundraising.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Advancement Team to ensure seamless collaboration on donor engagement and stewardship. Regularly strategize with Board members, the Principal, Athletic Directors and other staff to keep fundraising efforts on track.
  • Event Participation: Attend key events to connect with donors and prospects, staying informed on school initiatives to craft impactful solicitation proposals.
  • Stewardship & Recognition: Ensure timely and meaningful acknowledgment of major and planned gifts, keeping donors informed and engaged with the school’s mission and successes.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Support and engage volunteers for special fundraising initiatives, aligning their involvement with key institutional priorities.
  • Perform any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by their supervisor.

Fund-Raising:

  • In collaboration with the President, develop a comprehensive Advancement Plan with is reviewed, analyzed and adjusted annually to meet the school’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Foster a community-wide culture of philanthropy with all constituents to address the school’s funding needs for annual giving, endowments, and campaigns
  • Design, implement and manage all fundraising activities and events listed here:

o Annual Fund Program including Day of Giving, Alumni Appeal, Christmas Appeal, Donor Proof Appeal
o Tuition Assistance Program, Fund A Future Program
o Grant Proposals
o Fund Raising Events including the annual Legacy Gala and Alumni Golf Tournament
o Social Events including JHN Award / President’s Reception and support the parent events which are headed by the Administrative Assistant:

Father/Daughter, Mother/Daughter, Father/Son, Father/Daughter o Support the Alumni Director with Alumni events, publications,

Communications & Marketing:

  • Manage the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees with routine meetings, reporting on department progress to strategic plan and being the staff liaison to the committee members
  • Research and recommend potential board members
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing Director for all Advancement Plansactivities in order to ensure effective communications with all constituents through these programs:

o Website updates
o Trinity publications
o Email marketing and communications o Social Media

  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Director with design and development of event materials, brochures, invitations, postcards, graphics and collateral materials using professional design tools in order to provide professional products that represent the school
  • Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Advancement to ensure complete and accurate donor, alumni and student/family data is available for not just Advancement efforts, but for identified school needs as well. This includes understanding and suggesting improvements to teachers, counselors and administrative personnel, for the Data Base Management process in place at CNA

Alumni Relationships:

  • In collaboration with the Alumni Director develop a strategy for establishing a robust Alumni Engagement Program. Oversee the execution of program goals

Advancement Office Management:

  • In collaboration with the President, develop the annual budget for Advancement efforts
  • Recognize and thank all donors – Trinity Magazine articles, social media, email content, personal hand written notes and official thank you letters on letterhead
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Advancement, maintain a robust and accurate data base of donors, alumni, parents

Parent Volunteer Relations:

  • Manage the Parent Association group to ensure they provide the necessary support for the special events and fundraising programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year

Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
