Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to serve as a boat captain for vessel support services to Waterfront Operations CCD, in Norfolk, VA. This is a full-time, permanent position. This work will be conducted mainly at Naval Station Norfolk. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Summary/Objective
Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to serve as a boat captain for vessel support services to Waterfront Operations CCD, in Norfolk, VA. This is a full-time, permanent position. This work will be conducted mainly at Naval Station Norfolk. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Act as Captain / Crew on vessels ranging from 25’ to 100’ in legnth undergoing testing, trials, and safety evaluation(s) depending on mission and qualifications.
- Navigating, operating, overseeing, and/or assisting in in the operations of assigned vessels.
- Performing regular vessel maintenance, preventative maintenance, and light repairs such as boat checks, fueling, vessel logs, fluid changes, cleaning and more.
- Conducting regular safety drills and training for crewmember and junior operators.
- Document vessel-related activities, including information pertaining to safety, training, operations and the safe navigation of the vessel in the Ship’s Log and/or the digital Vessel Information Management System (VIMS).
- Properly mobilize and de-mobilize vessels before and after each cruise, including cleaning, systems checks, general condition inspection and stocking provisions as required.
- Maintain the safety and wellbeing of the crew and passengers, as well as timely execution of the assigned mission.
- Current United States Coast Guard (USCG) 50-ton Near Coastal Master license, or equivalent certification/experience from military or Government service.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance level SECRET.
- Working knowledge of FCC marine radio operations procedures, including marine distress communications.
- Understanding and ability to repair watercraft within a shop environment to support Naval Assets
- Ability to pass background check and physical due to the hazardous at-sea working environment.
- Able to stand for a minimum of 6 hours on wet and moving surfaces in open console vessels with limited protection from wind and seas.
- Current first Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
- High School diploma.
- USCG 100-ton Near Coastal Master license.
- 5 years of experience working with military small watercraft including:
- High Speed Rough Water Operations,
- Military, Commercial, or emergency diving operations,
- Emergency salvage and rescue operations,
- Maritime operations, planning, and execution.
- Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant Craft Operator/Crewman (SWCC Boat Captain or U.S. Coast Guard Heavy Weather Coxswain or Surfman)
- Active SECRET Security Clearance, or have had one within the last 7 years
- Experience operating single prop, dual prop and jet drive vessels
