School Crossing Guard
Cardinal Point Security Group is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team and help to keep children safe as they walk to and from school every day. School Crossing Guards provide safe crossings of the roadways and model appropriate street skills and behavior for pedestrians
Pay: $ 18.00 per hour
Location: Bethlehem, PA 18018
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
This is a 10-month position, with 2 months off during the summer. Schedule includes regular school hours and occasional after-school events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be a Cardinal Point Ambassador: Be on time. Look sharp in proper uniform. Be engaged. Be consistent
- Chooses good times to step into the street to create safe gaps in traffic
- Stands in the roadway with a STOP paddle, continuously raised to shoulder height to show that pedestrians are crossing the street
- Verbally directs people across the street
- Directs emergency vehicles to fields
- Recognizes and communicates potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment
- Works outdoors in all weather conditions including rain, fog, snow, sleet, cold, heat, humidity, and wind
Basic Qualifications:
- As a condition of employment, all candidates must pass a mandatory drug test
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a School Crossing Guard
- Able to work well under pressure
- High School Diploma or GED
- Obtains required clearances for working in school
- No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
- Reliable means of communication (active cell phone with mobile email access)
- Ability to comprehend and utilize the English Language (verbal and written)
- Reliable means of transportation
- Must possess a customer focused, professional, and courteous demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Sworn Municipal, State, or Federal Police Officer OR Military MP, Military MA, Air Force Security Forces, OR Federal, State or Municipal Corrections Officer.
- Valid Driver’s License
