What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scale Shop Floater 2nd Shift position at Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Co?
Summary/Objective
The scale shop floater has the knowledge, skill and ability to read and work from blueprints. The floater will have the skills and ability to fabricate materials using a variety of machining equipment including but not limited to a plasma cutter, steel shot blaster, robot welder, powder coating equipment, grinders in addition to performing manual welding. The scale shop floater must be capable and able to learn the set up and operations of various machines. Maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Essential Functions

- Set up, operate and trouble shoot machines and equipment in the scale shop.
- Ability to operate and perform quality checks on all equipment in the scale shop.
- Able to read and interpret engineered drawings and work instructions.
- Perform all assigned setups and operation, as well as required shop operations.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee. Keep waste low, minimal scrap, and account for all parts on each job.
- Know and follow Operator Preventative Maintenance procedures. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows safety procedures.
- Perform inspection of machined products, maintain quality, and document results.
- Complete and maintain paperwork for all parts.
- Train new employees if requested by the Supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of welding, fabrication, and machine operations experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Post elementary education in shop related courses or educational training.
- Seven (7) years of welding, fabrication, and machine operations experience.
