Job Summary
This position is responsible for housekeeping and laundry functions of a given Cardinal Senior Living Community including apartment and common area cleaning, laundry services, carpet care and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards and communicating with immediate supervisor on all pertinent matters of the community.
Job Description Role and Responsibilities:
- Apartment Cleaning:
- Apartment cleaning will consist of dusting, vacuuming, sheet and linen changing, bed making, bathroom cleaning including toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, and floors.
- Common Area Cleaning:
- Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining the common areas of the community including entry, alternative entries, reception area, corridors, bathrooms, activity rooms, and the dining room. Cleaning will consist of vacuuming carpets, dusting, washing windows, straightening furniture and coffee service. Areas need to be appropriate for visitors and residents 7 days a week.
- Laundry Services:
- Housekeepers will change resident's bedding and -linens each week as part of their monthly rent. Should the resident's request, bedding and linens may be changed more frequently for an additional fee. Linen inventory needs to be kept at a level to accommodate weekly changes and schedules need to be made to allow for washing, drying and folding of linens to meet community demand.
- Compliance with Rules and Regulations:
- Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining compliance with all local, state, federal and licensing rules and regulations associated with the licensure of the building. This includes HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws, etc that apply to the specific location of the property. Issues raised by any regulator will be immediately discussed with Housekeeping Supervisors and appropriate Management.
- Safety Compliance:
- Housekeepers are responsible for working in a safe manner and that unsafe actions are to be brought to the attention of the Housekeeping Supervisor. Compliance with Safety Committee Standards is required. Should workplace injuries occur, the Housekeeping Supervisor will be notified and the Housekeeper will follow all procedures for treatment, investigation and return to work. Injured workers will communicate with their supervisor as noted in the Employee Handbook
- Team Effectiveness:
- Housekeepers are responsible for fostering teamwork with co-workers, showing initiative in overcoming obstacles, taking actions which assist others beyond job responsibilities, and having a positive impact on co-workers, residents and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Physical Demands include:
May require Standing, Walking, Sitting, use of hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, see, lift up to 50 lbs.
Working conditions:
Work involves pushing vacuums, bending, stooping and cleaning floors and walls. Lifting laundry, pushing laundry carts and reaching above your head are part of the daily routine.Must be able to work evenings and weekends and maintain a flexible work schedule.Management/decision making
Uses limited independent judgement to make decisions based on established guidelines. Solves problems using standard procedures. Refers appropriate issues to supervisor when necessary.
