Job Description:

The Registered Medication Aide (R.M.A.) provides assisted living services to meet resident care needs under the Supervision of the Nursing Director and supervises direct care staff in accordance with the residents’ needs, state regulations, and Cardinal Senior Living policies and procedures. Provides medication administration in accordance with state policies and regulations.
To provide and assist residents with daily ADL’s (activities of daily living) as identified in resident’s Individual Service Plan under the supervision of Designated Charge Person, Nursing Director and Administration. Assists in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the residents.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a Registered Medication Aide by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing and in good standing.
- Licensed C.N.A. from the State of Virginia or Direct Care Aide who has completed the 40 hour Direct Care Aide Training Certification Program, that has met the requirements of the Department of Social Service.
- Previous experience with the geriatric field is preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, co- workers, community officials, state officials, and general public
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
- Must meet all State Health Requirements
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States
- Requires good attendance in order to provide quality care for our residents
- Must be of good character
- Be physically and mentally capable of carrying out assigned responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Personal Care and Nursing
- Medication Assistance /Supervisory Functions
- Documents in shift report book any and all pertinent information on residents. (ex. illness, new orders, MD appts, therapy etc.)
- Receives shift reports on residents upon arrival on duty from person in charge and gives shift reports on residents at end of shift to on coming shift charge person.
- Interact with resident’s MD, pharmacist and medical personal as needed.
- Supervise and assist with the storage ,distribution and discontinuation of resident’s oral medications
- Assist Residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, (hair care, oral care, and nail care), toileting, changing of bed linens as needed, positioning, transfers, mobility, and incontinence care
- Walking residents
- Perform nail care on Residents except those who are diabetic and on Coumadin or anticoagulant therapy
- Monitoring Residents
- Feeding Residents
- Keep proper records of care
- Immediately report observations, incidents, and changes in Resident’s condition to Designated Charge Person
- Vital signs monitoring
- Housekeeping & Laundry (mopping, cleaning, bathrooms, rooms, laundry, etc.…)
- Serving trays at meal times if needed
- Accompanying resident to and from medical appointments as needed
- Filling up water/ice pitchers every shift and as needed
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
