Cardinal AG specializes in designing and manufacturing automation equipment for the glass industry. The Field Service Engineer plays a crucial role in providing installation, service, and support at various Cardinal locations across the United States. This position involves setting up and testing equipment prior to its installation in the field, diagnosing errors and technical issues, and collaborating with design engineering to propose suitable solutions. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and dynamic. Frequent travel is required, and candidates must be adaptable to changing work schedules and shifts.
Essential Functions:
Provide service and customer support.
- Build positive relationships with customers.
- Effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.
- Ensure the appropriate parties are kept informed of service related issues.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports.
Responsible for all on-site equipment installation, upgrades, support, maintenance and repairs. Perform equipment set up and testing in-house prior to field installation.
- Perform equipment set up and testing in-house.
- Perform breakdown and packaging of equipment for field installation. This includes fabricating/building supports, padding/protecting equipment, heat-wrapping, and loading on/off trucks.
- Install, repair, replace, adjust and align equipment and components.
- Test-run repaired machines to verify adequacy of repairs.
- Install machine software to a variety of control platforms.
- Ensure equipment is setup with the correct IP’s and able to connect to the Cardinal network.
- Knowledge and capability to train maintenance and production personnel on Cardinal AG equipment.
Diagnose errors or technical issues and suggest proper solutions.
- Test and repair parts returned by customers.
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Disassemble equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Document processes and continuously update documentation with modifications to setup procedures.
- Use PLCs to troubleshoot equipment issues. May make program modifications, as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Degree in engineering related field preferred
- 2 years of technical experience working with automated equipment preferred
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
- Ability to travel and operate a vehicle safely
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
- Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers
