What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Driver position at Cardinal?
This job description is subject but not limited to:
- Maintaining professional appearance and conduct, always exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor.
- Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position as situation requires.
- Must have the ability to operate a curtain side mechanism for inspecting loads and ensuring that cargo is secure.
- Maintain log of hours through electronic device as required by DOT.
- Adhere to Cardinal driver program policies.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Maintain clean driving record and be able to pass DOT physical for medical card.
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures, always remaining courteous to members of law enforcement.
- Must submit to annual driving review and promptly report any driving violations, both on and off duty.
- Present BOL's and receipts for goods delivered or loaded.
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
- Maintain courteous and professional relationships with customers, noting their concerns and reporting promptly to the management team.
- Stop at filling stations and refuel vehicle as required.
- Maintain interior of vehicle in good condition following housekeeping guidelines.
