Job Summary
Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
- May communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.
- Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and/or to confirm appointments.
- Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.
- May be responsible for managing the referral work queue, entering patient demographic information, and scanning documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- May correspond with referring providers and/or patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, x-rays, and paperwork.
- May provide administrative support for Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred
- No experience required
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
