Private Cardiology Practice seeking a reliable, hard-working, experienced medical assistant who is looking for full-time, long-term employment for our Monroeville cardiology office. Candidate must be a quick learner with attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Some travel to alternate offices is required.
Job Responsibilities include both front and back office duties:
- Accompany patient to exam room, obtain vital signs, review medications and history with proper documentation in electronic health record.
- Check-in, eligibility, authorization, check-out, and procedure scheduling.
- Confirm appointments.
- Perform EKGs on patients.
- Obtain preauthorization for in-office and outpatient testing.
- Assist providers with in-office testing (stress echoes and nuclear stress tests)
- Answer and triage patient phone calls with proper documentation in the medical record.
- Provide patient education and instructions for in-office testing.
- Provide patient follow-up of testing results, lab results, and phone calls.
- Facilitate prescription refill requests.
- Keep patient exam rooms clean and organized between patients.
- Review provider schedules and prepare medical records prior to visit. Obtain all necessary records by using all provided resources and scan into chart prior to patient appointment.
- Carry out physician's orders including test scheduling, medication refills, patient transfers, etc., with proper follow-through.
- Work as a team player with all levels of staff as well as independently.
- Respect and maintain the security of medical records and patients health information according to HIPAA standards.
- Track medical supply and inventory and notify manager of needs.
- Provide our patients with excellent care.
Required work experience, skills, and education:
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- CPR certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism and emotional maturity.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and reliably to accurately complete tasks.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear PPE for extended periods of time.
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
Additional Information:
- Full-time daylight position
- Monday through Friday (40 hours).
- Travel to satellite offices required.
