Reports To: Lead Medical Assistant/Practice Administrator
Job Description Summary
The Medical Assistant in this position will perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of patient care and customer service. The MA will perform Back Office/Referral eligibility duties. Responsibilities include rooming patients, checking patient vital signs, taking patient history, documenting in EMR, cleaning and preparing exam rooms, and assisting providers as needed. The referrals will be submitted and followed up on in a timely manner. This position requires an MA Certificate. 2 years of MA experience is preferred as well as 2 years referral experience. The selected candidate will be a team player and multi-task very well; possess the ability to deal with people of all levels in a courteous and professional manner; demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Greets patients. The MA will greet the patient’s and direct them to the appropriate rooms.
- Manages patient care flow.
- Prepares patients for provider by reviewing current medications and records in medical record.
- Takes appropriate vital signs and record in medical record.
- Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
- Assists provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed.
- Assists in follow-up scheduling needs/Schedule appointments
- Answers patient calls in timely fashion. Make daily confirmation calls for the next day schedule.
- Prepares charts as needed- Review the patient’s chart in the EMR system and make sure all testing/lab work or other additional notes are ready for the appointment.
- Handles all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input.
- Handles tasks/prescription faxes
- Submits Authorizations/referrals and follows up in a timely manner
- Serves as an advocate for patient and utilizes appropriate resources Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills:

Position Qualifications
- MA Certificate required
- Must have current CPR Certificate
- Prior MA experience preferred
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Knowledge of referral/Insurance eligibility
- Flexibility with schedules/possible staff coverages at times
- Cooperative team-spirited attitude

Pay: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour
