Job Summary
The LVN role under general direction, develops, implements, evaluates and manages the care and education of patients; supervises day-to-day activities of patient care in the outpatient clinic. Provides professional nursing services as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and/or coordinates the patient care activities of the clinic; maintains documentation in patient chart.
- The LVN will provide patient care in compliance with CTVS policy and procedure handbook. Upholding standards of practice as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Verify that referral appointment is appropriate prior to scheduling new patient visits.
- Requests medical records from referring physician offices.
- Educates patients and responds and carries out orders made by physicians.
- Oversees patient schedules, appointments, and procedures; attends and assists during procedures.
- Oversees Medical Assistants , providing health training and education specific to our practice.
- Work collaboratively with the Business Office to assure insurance authorization process followed.
- Responsible for assessment, pre procedure, intra procedure, and post procedure patient care, utilizing the nursing process to ensure safety and the highest level of attentiveness in the vein solutions setting.
- Ability to recognize and initiate need for proper intervention, updating MD on patient status and carrying out orders in a precise and timely manner, and documenting per CTVS’s P&P.
- Proficiency in medication administration within his/her scope of practice.
- Assisting physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient assurance.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved LVN Program as defined by Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Current Texas Nursing License with no restrictions.
- Current BLS certification
- Extensive use of the telephone and computer for patient communication and scheduling.
- Thorough patient assessment skills, in person and by phone.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
- Ability to make procedural decision on sensitive, confidential issues
