Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, P.C. is looking to hire a full-time night shift (7p - 7a) Acute Care Nurse Practitioner as part of their ICU/intensivist team at Saint Thomas West.
Role
The CVA Nurse Practitioner is a licensed practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the hospitalized patient (specifically, but not exclusively in the intensive care unit). Care of the hospitalized patient is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members and under the supervision of the CVA physicians.
Essential responsibilities
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient medical needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
- Assists with the provision of pre- and post-surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions and makes appropriate adjustments interventions to try to maintain patient homeostasis.
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. transferring to higher level of care and discharging patients occasionally.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Desired Skills:

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure (or in the process of obtaining)
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in acute care, critical care
- Strong computer skills
- Eligible for hospital privileges
Requirement:
- Must have critical care experience within the last 5 years.
