NATURE OF DUTIES
The Public Relations Specialist plans, implements, and manages the organization's PR and media strategy. Primary responsibilities include content writing and curation, media coordination, press releases, social media management, and reputation management. The PR Manager utilizes traditional and digital/social media to create exposure and grow the CIS brand in line with campaign strategy. The PR Specialist maintains relationships with physicians, management, and media contacts to obtain and disseminate CIS news. The PR Specialist is the primary point of contact for media inquiries. Essential to the job are strong organizational, analytical, financial, and written skills and the experience and ability to make independent decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and manages the CIS social media strategy across all platforms
- Plans and executes consistent content and posts, responding and sharing as needed
- Develops engaging content and interacts with comments
- Creates, maintains and evaluates social media ads and campaigns
- Manages the CIS voice, online and in print
- Maintains an understanding of industry trends and the best ways to strategically communicate
- Develops strategy, responses, and messaging for crisis communication
- Manages PR and social media pages for all CIS affiliated companies
- Creates relationships with media contacts and maintains contact list
- Secures media coverage and prepares spokesperson for interviews
- Writes copy and scripting for ads, website, videos and collateral material
- Coordinates and hosts The Cardiovascular Pulse podcast recordings
- Develops topic ideas and writes talking points for podcast for physicians and guests
- Disseminates news in the form of pitches, press releases, feature stories, bios, social media posts, and more
- Knows and adjusts messages to the unique audience and content style for each outlet/market
- Manages and coordinates media inquiries
- Monitors, manages, and reports on media coverage
- Manages online brand and reputation, responds to reviews and comments
- Reports on social media analytics and trends
- Communicates with medical and device reps and industry partners in regards to PR
- Assists all departments with communication internally and externally
- Attends and assists in executing CIS events when needed
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
1. 3 years of experience preferred, healthcare industry a plus
2. Bachelor's degree in Communications, English or related field
3. Must understand and be knowledgeable of marketing principles and practices, including message development, advertising, media, and community outreach and publicity vehicles.
4. Requires demonstrated competence in project management and creative writing and have strong verbal communication, organizational, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
5. Must be team player, self-motivated, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
